During the trophy ceremony I had been struck by those fingers riddled with blisters and covered in plasters. The close up of the trophy and his hands was one way of illustrating the performance involved, but also of how the sportsman had suffered. It says it all, it is one of my favourite photos.

When you have fought a match and at the end you hold the trophy in your hands, it is a very special moment ».
